    Fingerprinting-based indoor localization using interpolated preprocessed csi phases and bayesian tracking

    Indoor positioning using Wi-Fi signals is an economic technique. Its drawback is that multipath propagation distorts these signals, leading to an inaccurate localization. An approach to improve the positioning accuracy consists of using fingerprints based on channel state information (CSI). Following this line, we propose a new positioning method which consists of three stages. In the first stage, which is run during initialization, we build a model for the fingerprints of the environment in which we do localization. This model permits obtaining a precise interpolation of fingerprints at positions where a fingerprint measurement is not available. In the second stage, we use this model to obtain a preliminary position estimate based only on the fingerprint measured at the receiver’s location. Finally, in the third stage, we combine this preliminary estimation with the dynamical model of the receiver’s motion to obtain the final estimation. We compare the localization accuracy of the proposed method with other rival methods in two scenarios, namely, when fingerprints used for localization are similar to those used for initialization, and when they differ due to alterations in the environment.     Dynamic indoor localization using maximum likelihood particle filtering

    A popular approach for solving the indoor dynamic localization problem based on WiFi measurements consists of using particle filtering. However, a drawback of this approach is that a very large number of particles are needed to achieve accurate results in real environments. The reason for this drawback is that, in this particular application, classical particle filtering wastes many unnecessary particles. To remedy this, we propose a novel particle filtering method which we call maximum likelihood particle filter (MLPF). The essential idea consists of combining the particle prediction and update steps into a single one in which all particles are efficiently used. This drastically reduces the number of particles, leading to numerically feasible algorithms with high accuracy.     Comparison of the Effects of Acarbose and TZQ-F, a New Kind of Traditional Chinese Medicine to Treat Diabetes, Chinese Healthy Volunteers

    Ethnopharmacological Relevance. TZQ-F has been traditionally used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a formula for the treatment of diabetes. Aim of the Study. This study aims to compare the pharmacologic effects and gastrointestinal adverse events between TZQ-F and acarbose. Methods. The double-blind randomized placebo-controlled fivefold crossover study was performed in 20 healthy male volunteers. Plasma glucose, plasma IRI, and plasma C-peptide were measured to assess the pharmacologic effects. Flatus and bowel activity were measured to assess the adverse event of gastrointestinal effect. Results. 3 and 4 tablets of TZQ decreased the Cmax of plasma glucose compared with that of the previous day and with placebo. 3 tablets also decreased Cmax of plasma C-peptide compared with placebo. 4 tablets increased Cmax of plasma insulin after breakfast and the AUC of plasma C-peptide after breakfast and dinner. 2 tablets did not decrease plasma glucose and elevated the Cmax and AUC of C-peptide after breakfast and dinner, respectively. Acarbose 50 mg decreased the Cmax of plasma insulin and C-peptide after breakfast and the Cmax of plasma glucose and C-peptide after dinner. The subjects who received TZQ did not report any abdominal adverse events. Conclusions. 3 tablets of TZQ have the same effects as the acarbose

    Multiple-Vehicle Localization Using Maximum Likelihood Kalman Filtering and Ultra-Wideband Signals

    In this article we study the problem of localizing a fleet of vehicles in an indoor environment using ultra-wideband (UWB) signals. This is typically done by placing a number of UWB anchors with respect to which vehicles measure their distances. The localization performance is usually poor in the vertical axis, due to the fact that anchors are often placed at similar heights. To improve accuracy, we study the use of inter-vehicle distance measurements. These measurements introduce a technical challenge, as this requires the joint estimation of positions of all vehicles, and currently available methods become numerically complex. To go around this, we use a recently proposed technique called maximum likelihood Kalman filtering (MLKF). We present experiments using real data, showing how the addition of inter-vehicle measurements improves the localization accuracy by about 60%. Experiments also show that the MLKF achieves a localization error similar to the best among available methods, while requiring only about 20% of computational time.Fil: Wang, Wenxu.     Prospective network of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms across adolescent survivors with distinct trajectories of PTSD:A cohort study of the Wenchuan earthquake

    There are multiple trajectories of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms following disasters. Unraveling the patterns of interactions between PTSD symptoms across distinct PTSD trajectories is crucial. This study was aimed at investigating the temporal sequences, changes, and predictive symptoms in PTSD networks over time across distinct PTSD trajectory groups. Data were exacted from the Wenchuan Earthquake Adolescent Health Cohort (WEAHC) study. The current study included 1022 adolescents (424 males) who participated in follow-up surveys at 12 months and 24 months post-earthquake. Self-reported PTSD symptoms were assessed with the Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Self-Rating Scale. The between-person network revealed significant differences across distinct trajectories. In the chronic dysfunction group, “Intrusive thoughts” had the strongest value in predicting on other PTSD symptoms. In contrast, “Difficulty in study or work” in the recovery group and “Physiological cue reactivity” in the resistance group were highly associated with the remission of other PTSD symptoms. These findings underscore the importance of “Difficulty in study or work” and “Physiological cue reactivity” for promoting the spontaneous remission of PTSD and further suggest that “Intrusive thoughts” maybe helpful to minimize the subsequent presence of other PTSD symptoms. Future research should investigate the causality and associations between within-person networks

    RIP3 dependent NLRP3 inflammasome activation is implicated in acute lung injury in mice

    Abstract Background NLRP3 inflammasome is involved in the inflammatory responses during acute lung injury (ALI). RIP3 triggered NLRP3 inflammasome activation independent of necroptosis induction has recently been documented. In this study, the role of RIP3 in the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome in the development of ALI was investigated. Methods A selective RIP3 inhibitor GSK872 was used to investigate the roles of RIP3 in NLRP3 inflammasome activation in the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced ALI mouse model. The mechanism of NLRP3 inflammasome activation was investigated in the human monocytic cell line THP-1. NLRP3 inflammasome and necroptosis were measured by flow cytometry or western blot. RIP3–NLRP3 interaction was interrogated using immunoprecipitation and the Duolink® In situ detection. Results Significant upregulation of both necroptosis and NLRP3 inflammasome pathways were observed in the lungs of mice with LPS induced ALI. GSK872 significantly suppressed the activation of necroptosis and NLRP3 activation with reduction of IL-1β and IL-18 production and inflammatory cells infiltration, resulting in a significant amelioration of lung injury. These two processes were shown to be active in interstitial macrophages and CD11b+ monocyte–macrophages/dendritic cells. In THP-1 cells, RIP3 and NLRP3 interaction was enhanced by LPS/ATP stimulation resulting in IL-1β and IL-18 production. This RIP3–NLRP3 interaction was significantly inhibited by GSK872. Conclusion Taking together, these results show that RIP3 participates in the NLRP3 inflammasome activation in infiltrating macrophages in ALI induced by LPS. This process plays a significant pathogenic role in LPS-induced lung injury

    Flexible Method for Generating Arbitrary Vector Beams Based on Modified Off-Axis Interference-Type Hologram Encoding

    A novel experimental setup for the generation of arbitrary vector beams is proposed. The system major includes two reflective liquid crystal spatial light modulators (RLC-SLM) and a polarizing beam splitting prism. Moreover, this method is not limited by the wavelength of light wave and the pixel size of SLM. Theoretical analysis shows that when Gaussian beam or a plane beam is illuminated on a computer-generated hologram (CGH) specially designed in this work, the complex amplitudes of the vector field’s two orthogonal polarization components may be changed by modifying the encoding parameters, resulting in a vector beam with arbitrary complex amplitude and polarization in the output field. The experimental results also show that the two independent coding channels of the device have good polarization-selective imaging ability, which greatly improves the flexibility of generating arbitrary vector beams

    PCL/Collagen/UA Composite Biomedical Dressing with Ordered Microfiberous Structure Fabricated by a 3D Near-Field Electrospinning Process

    In this work, a functionalized polycaprolactone (PCL) composite fiber combining calf-type I collagen (CO) and natural drug usnic acid (UA) was prepared, in which UA was used as an antibacterial agent. Through 3D near-field electrospinning, the mixed solution was prepared into PCL/CO/UA composite fibers (PCUCF), which has a well-defined perfect arrangement structure. The influence of electrospinning process parameters on fiber diameter was investigated, the optimal electrospinning parameters were determined, and the electric field simulation was conducted to verify the optimal parameters. The addition of 20% collagen made the composite fiber have good hydrophilicity and water absorption property. In the presence of PCUCF, 1% UA content significantly inhibited the growth rate of Gram-positive and negative bacteria in the plate culture. The AC-PCUCF (after crosslinking PCUCF) prepared by crosslinking collagen with genipin showed stronger mechanical properties, water absorption property, thermal stability, and drug release performance. Cell proliferation experiments showed that PCUCF and AC-PCUCF had no cytotoxicity and could promote cell proliferation and adhesion. The results show that PCL/CO/UA composite fiber has potential application prospects in biomedical dressing
